Symptoms of Upper Cervical Disorders

The upper cervical region, also known as the craniovertebral junction, consists of the occipital bone (found in the lower-back area of the skull) and the first two bones in the spine called atlas (C1) and axis (C2). Abnormalities and inflammation in the craniovertebral junction result in upper cervical disorders. These can both be inborn or acquired in later life. Whether the bones in the upper cervical region are compressed together, prematurely formed, or misaligned due to physical trauma, they contribute to upper cervical disorders.

Below are some of the most notable symptoms of upper cervical disorders. Sufferers may also experience these symptoms simultaneously.

  • Neck Pain. Most often than not, a person suffers from chronic neck pain. Neck movements become limited and painful. A worse condition of chronic neck pain can also induce pain in the arms.
  • Headaches. Headaches frequently occur in a week, sometimes almost daily. The tension is felt from the lower-back region of the skull up to the temples. The headaches are usually not severe. However, in some cases, it will cause a spinning sensation, similar to vertigo.
  • Numbness and Weakness. These manifest in the arms and legs. Arms become numb and weaken sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures. Weakness in the legs is more evident than in the arms.

Chiropractic Care As A Solution To Upper Cervical Disorders

The specific chiropractor will use nerve tests and digital x-rays to determine if any misalignments are present in the upper cervical region. If upper cervical chiropractic is beneficial to your condition, the upper cervical chiropractor will apply adjustments and other kinds of care. Most sufferers reported feeling better after getting regular upper cervical chiropractic care.

Stress: How It Destroys Your Immune System

Stress is inevitable, may it be the good or bad kind. Even the most mundane part of your life causes stress, like being stuck in a traffic jam. There are also times when stress stays for a long time and causes a person to be ill. With the pandemic going on, it is vital to strengthen your immune system more than you did pre-pandemic. In going for that extra mile in boosting your immunity, stress should be managed healthily; otherwise, it will take its toll on you.

STRESS AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The immune system is the body’s very own defense system against illnesses caused by bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. The cells and tissues in the immune system distinguish foreign tissues that need to be eliminated. Lymphocytes and phagocytes are white blood cells that comprise our immune cells.

When the mind is under stress, cortisol is released. Cortisol is the primary stress hormone in the body that drives the ‘flight-and-fight’ response. A sufficient amount of cortisol is beneficial when we need to respond quickly in stressful situations. However, if a person suffers from chronic stress, too much cortisol can suppress the immune system. Cortisol impairs our immune system by decreasing the number of lymphocytes in our body. Lesser lymphocytes result in an unhealthy immune system, thus destroying the body’s first layer of defense.

UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE AND STRESS

Upper cervical chiropractic care can help you address your chronic stress.

Before getting chiropractic care, the upper cervical chiropractor will conduct nerve tests and digital X-rays. If an upper cervical misalignment is found, the upper cervical chiropractor will offer a chiropractic adjustment and other kinds of care. This will prevent inflammation and restore function to the central nervous system.

If you have been finding a way to de-stress and live healthily, call us. Most sufferers of chronic stress feel better after their first few sessions of care. We care about the safety of our community. We can, therefore, guarantee your security during your consultation with us.
